Collectables, Arenas and translations

Hi people!

After completing last sector we are still on adding story elements in it but at least the collectables are finally placed in game – take a look:

There are also some news about the arenas, we are now looking which sectors use for them. If you have tried the ones available on current build, you have maybe seen that the arenas are parts of the sectors but with some minor difference, for making the rooms perfect for an arcade gameplay.
So, for the new ones we are making some tests because not any place is right and sometimes parts that looks nice offer, in reality, a tedious gameplay, which is of course a bad thing that we want to avoid at any cost.
We are also thinking how to make them available to the player. We have some ideas but we are not sure, right now.
In any case, here are some WIP screens:

And here is our current text editor for managing the translations – which has some bugs πŸ˜› with some (special) characters type and that Alessio is fixing:

On the right the original texts (in EN), on the left the same that will be edited in the new language – with a click the edit-window will pop up for writing and saving the sentences. After the work is done, a global save creates the new file for the new language – a rapid copy/paste in the game directory and the job is done!

End of August update

Hi people!

Time for a new updates after the usual weekly meeting – this week x2 :P.
Sector-10 is having some minor palette changes on last part and we are thinking where to put the interactive PCs for the story infos. Plus now the rooms have names and it was stress-tested.

On other things: we added in the hints list a new one for switching between the SynBs, with the mouse wheel, and fixed some texts.
We have changed the position of an info PC in Sector-1, because there were too many in a room and we are adding a new info text that will appear during the first fight with the Kebre – here:

We added another 2 achievements, one for the last Sector and one for the Yellow Ray, just like the blue and the green one.
So right now we have added all the achievements from our list (last Sectors, end game…) + some more, everything is ready and uploaded on STEAM. We just need to finish last stuff and upload a new version and complete the end scene.

Alessio is changing the levels for adding some collectable items following a list we wrote months ago.

The idea of the collectable items is also “related” to a new feature of the game you will see soon.
Alessio is working on an exporter/converter for all the languages texts – when it will be ready we will have the possibility to manage all the texts… just to time for making the translation πŸ˜‰

Sector-10 in testing

Hi all,
how is it?
We were in holidays and rested a bit BUT after for some days Alessio took some time for finishing Sector-10.

Is everything done? Yes, it is. Take a look:

We are testing the gameplay a little bit more before releasing this new version.
Not sure when we will but for sure as soon as possible.

Sector-10 half done

Hi all,
today a new WIP for Sector-10.

The last level is still in progress, rooms are almost done and connected, just some “details” πŸ˜› are missing:

  • texturing
  • add a better light(s)
  • verify the walls collisions

and then it’s time to write the scripts.
Maybe we will “shrink” some parts but we will find out if it’s necessary when the enemies where be on stage and after some strong playtesting πŸ™‚

Sect-10: Ideas, palettes, stuff…

Sector-10 is coming out. Slowly but good. πŸ˜‰

We are building all the rooms and changing a bit the order – the idea is to have something that “grows” with a rhythm while you move from one to another, something that feels right and is fun to play.
It’s important that things seem to have a logic, feel well connected and that anything has the right time(s).

Of course it’s all about hard work on good ideas BUT also to remove all the extra things that kills the game balance – something like “more is less” (maybe: less is more clear and nicer to play).
We are trying hard, hope it will work. πŸ˜‰

Hard Rock New Trailer + FREE DEMO on STEAM

Hi all

finally we have the NEW TRAILER, here is it with a very cool rock song by the nice group The Spin Wires , take a look:

When we listened to their music we were really impressed by the quality and the sound so we decided to use one song on the video. We think it works very well, don’t you think? πŸ˜‰
You should check also their other songs, very good stuff. πŸ˜‰

And from today we have also uploaded the new DEMO on STEAM , so if you love the platform and want to try the game or have friend that would like, now it’s finally possible.

The demo has 3 different Sectors/levels from current BETA.
The first for introducing you to the story and the game mechanics, the second with an advance puzzle session and last for some cool action.

Next step: as told, we are on last sector, S-10, which is last. We are still on designing and defining what will it have – you know, we have many ideas but we want to have a balanced level and not just a “box” with as many things as possible. Maybe next week end we can show something.

Update: intro!

Hi again!

We have a new update, just for the week end so you can play happy again with you favorite THE BODY CHANGER ^_^.
First of all, as told, we have finally a intro for the game with a better introduction to the story, more info about what’s going on and how you got involved with the no-end mission.
We used 3D cut-scenes made with game engine plus some 2D gfx for building fake e-mails. We are pretty sure you will like it. πŸ˜‰
Of course you need to start a new game for seeing it.

We fixed also other stuff (maybe take a look toΒ  STEAM discussion for more details…) and added more info for some puzzles here and there. We added also some automatic position change for the camera, for making some things more clear: we are trying to avoid situations where you do some action and you hear a sound but it’s not clear what’s going on.

Because we thought that using the Dart Shock Beam could be difficult sometimes we added an animated “crosshair“:

Have you seen it in the screenshot from last news? πŸ˜‰ You still need to be precise but at least you have a better idea where you will throw your Shock Beam – here’s a super short video that shows how cool the animation is:

EHI! We finally have uploaded the cards, wallpapers and the emoticons! Sadly I found out that I forgot to make 3 wallpapers, so this week-end will be time to finish the job πŸ˜›

We had also the opportunity the install the game on a Microsoft Surface (with Windows 8) and it works perfectly:

New BETA 0.9.0

While you will need to wait longer for the (April) 2D Ultra Edition πŸ˜› from today, if you own the game, you can play with the new BETA, version 0.9.0 (STEAM LINK HERE).

This beta is a HUGE step forward of THE BODY CHANGER because you can now play 9 of the 10 levels the game will have in the final version.
So, current v. 0.9.0 contains:

  • 4 new and complete levels/sectors, all connected with many different battles and many puzzles – exploration is needed find out how to reach some of them πŸ˜‰
  • a lot of little bug fixes – wrong lighting for some area after a save game reload, barrel roll shortcut conflict between mouse and keyboard, occasional broken animation for some environment elements
  • better path-finding algorithm for the enemies
  • a improved body-change mechanic – you have more freedom to change between SynBs like, for example, when the enemies grab you
  • some improved icons for the UI – a better ACTIVATOR + one for the new bonus
  • a new type of enemy
  • a new bonus object for the Nexus and the Ighel – find out by yourself πŸ˜‰

16 DAYS TO ULTRA EDITION!

We take some time but finally we want to show you the super new version of TBC, called ULTRA. Here is it:

Because people that follow Indie project usually prefer 2D pixel graphics like old 16-bit era, we switch our engine to a 2D version that can handle pixel like hell! Real time lighting, fake prospective management, more then 10 layers of parallax, real time reflection.. 2D as its best!
The gameplay changes a bit but there is still the SynB switch mechanic: you will use the Ighel in the main layer and, by pressing right trigger or left trigger + X and left/right/up/down on D-Pad, you can bring in front the other SynBs and do some special moves. Take a look:

We hope you like it as we do! We used to love sooo many GREAT 2D adventures like, for example, ALIENS:INFESTATION for DS and we think this is the right new direction for TBC.
